Anichebe ignoring my ‘phone calls, says Keshi

The Chief Coach of the Super Eagles Stephen Keshi has vowed not to beg Everton of England striker Victor Anichebe to play for Nigeria. He said yesterday at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) headquarters in Abuja that all his effort to speak to the former England youth international have proved abortive. Anichebe had sevieral injury problems including a groin problem on his last appearance for Nigeria in a 2-0 win over Madagascar in 2011.
“Of course, Anichebe is a great striker. He is young, strong and he can give several options in attack. I plan to visit him in England and talk to him face to face but his not pinking calls.
“I have tried all means to reach him but no way, In the past” we talk on telephone but I feels it is better for me to speak to him one on one but his not willing to talk to me.
“I know he has recently put his international career on hold so he could concentrate more at Everton but we have to put his performance in national assignment into consideration that is while I am considering him.
“I can’t beg him to play for Nigeria. If he changes his mind and make himself available to the Super Eagles good but I can’t beg him because he’s not bigger than the country, he said.
Keshi is considering Anichebe’s inclusion for the Nelson Mandela Challenge match against South Africa next month.
