Activist faults el-Rufai’s claim of Jonathan’s ethnic politics

Niger Delta activist and former Secretary General of the Ijaw Youths Council, IYC, Udengs Eradiri, has dismissed claims by the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai that President Goodluck Jonathan is playing ethnic and religious politics, saying the allegation was unfounded and aimed to malign the President.
Eradiri in a chat with National Mirror, said there cannot be any truth in el Rufai’s allegation, as almost all the key agencies of agencies of the Federal Government are headed by Northerners.
The former minister, who is now the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC, had accused President Jonathan of playing ethnic and religious politics as a way of diverting Nigerians’ attention from alleged bad governance going on in the country.
But Eradiri, who warned against disrespect to the office of the President, said: “The claim by el-Rufai that President Goodluck Jonathan is playing ethnic politics is unfounded, because I don’t understand his reasons for making such allegations.
How can he say such when almost the key agencies and parastatals of the Federal Government are headed by Northerners; is it the Customs, Immigration, Central Bank or the Police.”
