Rapper DMX
thinks there’s something fishy about his most recent arrest for marijuana
possession.
The
rapper was arrested on Tuesday after a traffic stop in South Carolina. Police
observed the car he was riding in make an illegal U-turn, and after pulling the
car over found some marijuana inside.
From
the onset, DMX seemed to think there was something strange about the stop.
“This
ain’t no normal traffic stop,” he was heard saying. “18 cops, 5 cars, get the
f— outta here man.”
After
police found the bag of marijuana, DMX released a statement saying he had
nothing to do with the drugs. The rapper’s PR representative said DMX was
riding in the car with two assistants, Shawn Durham and Shawn Rhodes, and that the
drugs didn’t belong to him.
The
rep released a statement on behalf of the rapper, whose real name is Earl
Little, that read:
“DMX
was driving in the passenger seat when the vehicle he was in was pulled over
last night. Although officers pulled them over for a minor traffic violation,
DMX was asked to step outside so they can search the vehicle. Officers then
claimed that they found bags of marijuana in the floorboard and arrested X. No
drugs were found on DMX or the other passengers and the alleged bags of
marijuana were never shown to DMX or the other passengers. DMX was released
this morning at approximately 11am EST and is back at his home in South
Carolina.”
A
police report said rapper DMX also smelled as if he had been drinking, and that
police found three bags of marijuana under the floorboard of the car.
The
42-year-old rapper has gotten into quite a bit of trouble in the last few months. In July he
was arrested in Greenville County, South Carolina on suspicion of DUI, but got
out of it after passing a Breathalyzer test. He was also arrested in February
on a charge of driving without a license, and has filed for bankruptcy
protection with a $1.24 million child support bill outstanding.
After
the incident rapper DMX was released from jail, but was placed under house arrest.
