Automaker Honda Motor Company has launched a local subsidiary, Automobile Western Africa Limited (HAWA), with a view to strengthening its market presence in Nigeria.

The company made this known during a briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, even as it also revealed that the new formation has secured an exclusive relationship with THP Limited.
At the launching, Chief Operating Officer for Regional Operations (Europe, the Middle & Near East and Africa), Mr. Manabu Nishimae, expressed delight at Honda’s prospects for the country given its population and strategic importance in the region.
On his part, Managing Director, Honda Automobile Western Africa Limited (HAWA), Mr. Takayuki Yamashita, said HAWA is poised to “connect the market with Honda’s global resources and know-how more effectively, and eventually accelerate the expansion of our business in Nigeria”.
HAWA, according to Yamashita, was also committed to ensuring that Nigerian customers are provided with “Three joys” that included the joy of selling, the joy of buying and the joy of creating. He further said HAWA along with THP would make sure the customers feel the “joy of buying to the fullest extent.”
Yamashita said Honda’s 50-year experience around the world in selling automobiles would be handy in getting the company to expand successfully in Nigeria, stressing the importance of focusing primarily on highest standards of service to customers.
