Okorocha vows to sack erring DAGs

Imo State Government has disclosed that any Director of Administration and General Services (DAGs) who pay contractors without first ensuring the completion of projects would be sacked from the state civil service.
Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, made this known at a meeting with House of Assembly members, Sole Administrators, Permanent Secretaries and Directors of Administration and General Services at Government House, Owerri.
He said the action had become necessary as majority of the roads that should have been asphalted were still undone.
The governor said a task force to ensure completion of all ongoing road projects would be set up in various communities in the state.
He explained that a monitoring fund would also released to enable the task force execute its job without delay.
He said asphalting of the rural roads would begin on November 10, as he urged the committee not to award fresh road contracts and also directed that signposts should be erected bearing Rescue Mission on each road.
The governor enjoined them to visit the community government council (CGC) to ensure that the Palm for Palm project of the present administration was on course.
He also charged them to ensure that the Youth-Must-Work programme is being used to create job especially at the rural areas.
He urged them to ensure that schools in their community have adequate teachers as well as to get reports of schools in the area.
