Pope's Climate Change Encyclical Leaked

A draft of Pope Francis' highly anticipated encyclical on climate change was leaked by an Italian magazine on Monday, reaffirming his stance that human activity and fossil fuels are to blame and urging a global response to take action.

The leaked encyclical, or papal teaching letters to the Roman Catholic church, was a 192-page draft that cites scientific evidence about the role of humans in global warming, calls on people to move away from a consumerist lifestyle, and pushes for governments to work together on climate solutions such as moving away from carbon credits.

The Vatican emphasized the document, leaked by L'Espresso, was not in its final version and will remain under embargo until Thursday.
