Senegal bans plastic bags

Senegal has become the latest country in Africa to ban thin plastic bags to protect the environment.
It follows similar moves in Cameroon, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Mauritania where the authorities estimated 70% of cattle and sheep in the capital, Nouackchott were dying from ingesting plastic bags.
The Senegalese government says the countryside is littered with five million discarded bags.
